Lay, Lady, Lay
This is a cover of a Bob Dylan song, by Magnet.
It is absolutely beautiful and sexy.
Here is the original, from Dylan himself:

Another piece of fantastic news: Tim Reynolds will also be playing on the new album. The last time he recorded with DMB was 10 years ago on Before These Crowded Streets.

eisley. on tour!

Three sisters, a brother and a cousin. Little Texas indie band who are as cute as the buttons on their vintage clothing. The Eisley sisters' harmonies are simply heavenly. Formerly known as the Towheads, years ago, they used to play as the house band at their parents coffee shop. Stacy, the youngest sister, was only eight years old at the time. The Eisley sisters have contributed vocals on albums for other bands such as Head Automatica, Bright Eyes and New Found Glory. Eisley recently performed at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Here is a video of a performance of "Mr. Pine" from 2004.

i hate scranton.

Please check out my friends I Hate Scranton. They've got some pretty decent rough demos up here. I suggest "Rag Doll," but all three songs are wonderful in their own way. They are currently writing their first album and will be playing their first show this Friday, Februray 29! Get at me for details. These kids are fantastic. Their album is going to be solid.

across the universe & seventh tree.

P.S. I have enabled comments to allow anyone to comment, not just blogger account users. So, please feel free to respond and share thoughts and ideas!

Goldfrapp will release its fourth studio album, Seventh Tree, next Tuesday, February 26th. The entire album is streaming this week only on Goldfrapp's Myspace. Seventh Tree slows down for a more chilled out, surreal and psychedelic feel in contrast to the more upbeat disco electronica sound of their previous album, Supernature. Upon my first listen of this album, I am a little hesitant to say "yes." But, I am a firm believer in re-listening. Some of the best albums or artists will grow on you and become your new faves if you will just force yourself to listen and give it a chance. So, before saying "no," I say play it a few more times and see what happens. Listen and decide for yourself.
Favorite song so far: Cologne Cerrone Houdini

salutations & good news.
I suppose I should begin by introducing this blog.
What I'm listening to lately:
Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Strokes, My Morning Jacket
This blog will be dedicated to anything and everything music-related. Just like creative freedom, there is no limit to what will be discussed here. Feel free to respond and share your thoughts, criticisms or ideas. Not everybody will agree with what I say or think. Not everybody will agree with what you say or think. But if everyone kept their thoughts to themselves, no one would be challenged or encouraged to think differently.
I will be both subjective and objective, depending on the topic and artist. You will soon learn what some of my favorite bands are; however, my music interests are extremely wide spread.
I want to kick off this inaugeral post with some fantastic news!
It has been announced (according to Stefan Lessard's blog on Myspace) that Dave Matthews Band will begin recording their next album very soon. Weekly Davespeak believes recording will begin sometime in March with an album release in May or June, just in time for the summer tour. For any true DMB fans out there, I recommend Weekly Davespeak. It is a great site that contains news, fan forums, mp3 recordings from almost any show and other media.
Relating to Dave Matthews Band news, I'd like to introduce my blogger audience to Yukon Kornelius. Stefan Lessard's side project. This cover band consists of Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies, Adam Gardner of Guster, Eric Fawcett of N.E.R.D. and of course, Stefan Lessard of the Dave Matthews Band. Yukon Kornelius has only played one show and there is no expectation for future shows (but maybe we'll get lucky). Here is a little taste:
